I have been treating patients with chronic pain for over 35 years. And, through many of those years I felt like I wasn’t accomplishing as much as I hoped. Sure, I provided injection therapies and prescriptions for analgesics that gave people a less pain-filled life. But was I providing any long-term solutions? Something that did not have to be repeated daily (meds) or several times a year (injections?) No, not really. That’s what led to an interest in regenerative orthopedics. As an affiliate of Regenexx, I now provide solutions, rather than temporizing measures. Using platelet rich plasma platelets and bone marrow concentrate to treat chronic joint or spine pain allows me to provide solutions with minimum risk. Regenexx is one of my favorite things.
Spinal Cord Stimulation has been around for over 50 years. When it was first introduced to treat chronic neck and limb pain the technology was considered very advanced for its time. The results were spotty, to say the least. At this point, after extensive research in well selected patients, the results are nothing short of impressive. Basically, a small pulse generator is connected to stimulator leads placed in the epidural spice outside of your spine. The electrical pulses scramble the transmission of pain signals from the spine to the brain so that patient feels less pain. A temporary lead is inserted for a couple of days. If that is successful in reducing pain, a surgeon implants a permanent device beneath the skin. It’ s a lot like a pacemaker. No one can see it and it’s managed via a remote control. No steroids, repeated injections, major surgery, opioids or other meds. Long term relief with limited risk. Spinal Cord Stimulation is another one of my favorite things.
